West Windsor's public tennis courts

The township lists nine tennis courts across three parks. Here is what each site has, where it is, and how it fits with the county courts nearby.

West Windsor Township's Department of Parks & Recreation lists tennis courts at three of its parks. They are free, public courts — distinct from the county-run Mercer County Park Tennis Center, which charges non-cardholders and takes reservations. The township's park pages describe facilities but do not publish court hours or reservation rules, so call Parks & Recreation at 609-799-2400 if you are planning a group session or lessons.

Hendrickson Drive Tennis Complex

This is the township's dedicated tennis site and its best option for evening play: five lighted courts, a practice wall for solo hitting, and a playground for families. The township describes it as the location of the West Windsor Tennis Program, so expect scheduled lessons and clinics on some courts during program seasons. The complex sits on Hendrickson Drive adjacent to Route 571; the township's directions link points to 199 Hendrickson Dr.

Duck Pond Park

Duck Pond Park, on Meadow Road between Clarksville Road and Bear Brook Road, covers about 120 acres — roughly half nature preserve and half active recreation. Its two tennis courts sit alongside soccer fields that the township notes are illuminated; it does not state whether the tennis courts are lit. Duck Pond is a good fit if you want a quick hit while the rest of the family uses the fields or trails.

West Windsor Community Park

The township calls this 123-acre park its main active recreation facility. Alongside two tennis courts it has two pickleball courts, two basketball courts, a playground, walking and jogging paths, two dog parks, a skate park and the West Windsor Water Works Family Aquatic Center. For pickleball details, see the West Windsor pickleball page.

Choosing a court

For an after-work match, Hendrickson Drive is the only township site the township describes as lighted, so it is the default once the sun goes down. For a weekend morning hit combined with a family outing, Duck Pond Park and Community Park put courts next to fields, playgrounds and trails. If you want lessons, start with the township's West Windsor Tennis Program, which is based at Hendrickson Drive; if you want a guaranteed court at a set time, the county center's reservation system is the more predictable choice. Bring your own balls to every township site.

Park rules worth knowing

The township restricts smoking and tobacco use in all public parks and recreation facilities it owns or leases (Township Code Chapter 140). Program registration runs through the township's online registration links, and its policies page covers program rules.
